Connect Claude.ai (and the Claude Desktop app) to Marketproof MCP

Add Marketproof as a custom connector in Claude and pull NYC real-estate data right inside your chats.

Written by Ning

Marketproof MCP connects Claude to live NYC real-estate data: building and unit search, recorded sales and comps, owner and contact lookups, DOB permits and violations, and market analysis. Once Marketproof is added as a connector, you can ask Claude to research, compare, and summarize in plain language, and it pulls the data for you.

These steps work the same on claude.ai (the web app) and the Claude desktop app. The Connectors screen is identical in both.

Before you start

  • A Claude Pro or Max plan (individual accounts). Custom connectors are not available on the free plan. On Team or Enterprise, an Owner adds the connector for the organization and each member authorizes it. See the note at the end.

  • A Marketproof MCP account with a credit balance. Sign up at mcp.marketproof.com and buy a credit pack. You need credits to run any queries.

  • A Connection from your Marketproof console, which gives you three values: a Server URL, a Client ID, and a Client Secret. Create one under Connect your AI agent.

Connect it

  1. Get your credentials. In the Marketproof console, open Connect your AI agent, create a connection (or open an existing one), and copy the Server URL (https://mcp.marketproof.com/tools), Client ID, and Client Secret. The secret is shown only once at creation, so copy it now.

  2. Open the Add flow in Claude. Go to Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector (sometimes labeled "Add custom integration").

  3. Enter the server details. Name it Marketproof. Set the Server URL to https://mcp.marketproof.com/tools. Expand Advanced settings and paste your Client ID and Client Secret. Click Add.

  4. Connect and authorize. Click Connect next to the new Marketproof entry and complete the Marketproof sign-in and authorization prompt.

  5. Turn it on in a chat. In the message box, click the + at the lower left (or type /), choose Connectors, and toggle Marketproof on. You can enable or disable it per conversation.

What you can do now

Ask Claude anything that needs NYC real-estate data. A few to try:

  • "Find five recent comparable sales for The Solaire, 20 River Terrace, and lay out the price range."

  • "Give me a profile of 250 East 40th Street: recent sales, current listings, and any open DOB violations."

  • "Show this month's Park Slope condo contract activity, with days on market."

Team and Enterprise

On Team or Enterprise, only an Owner or Primary Owner can add an organization-wide connector: Settings → Organization settings → Connectors → Add, then enter the same Server URL, Client ID, and Client Secret. After that, each member opens their own Settings → Connectors, finds Marketproof, clicks Connect, and authorizes, so Claude only ever sees what that member is permitted to access.

Troubleshooting

  • No "Add custom connector" option. Custom connectors need Pro or Max (individual), or an Owner account on Team or Enterprise. Free plans do not have it.

  • Marketproof shows as not connected. Click Connect next to it and complete the authorization. Double-check the Client ID and Client Secret were pasted correctly.

  • Marketproof is not appearing in the chat. Click + at the lower left of the message box, choose Connectors, and toggle Marketproof on for that conversation.

  • Every request fails with "insufficient credits." Your Marketproof balance is empty. Buy a credit pack in the console, then retry.

  • Lost or wrong Client Secret. The secret is shown only once. Rotate it in the console (open the Connection → Rotate), then update the connector with the new value.

  • To remove it later. Settings → Connectors, open the three-dot menu next to Marketproof, and choose Remove.
